Trying for a baby.. Emetophobics point of veiw.I decided to do a little journal of this... so that if any emetophobics who wants kids but cant face it it might help them to see that being emetophobic doesnt mean you cant be a good mum. We just need a bit of extra support when it comes to sickness.
I already have a daughter. She is three. Last month I came off the pill to try for number two.
When i had danni, i took stemital for nausia. It did work and i didnt really get that tired either. So before I came off the pill I asked my gp if i could have it aain and he did say yes.
I know this may take a while to conceive, im 30 now and been on the pill and i hope im not jinxing myself by doing this thread!
Coming off the pill has brought side effects! I had nasty ovulation pains but this done mean I did infact ovulate which is good.
Also had a nasty taste in my mouth over the last 18 hours... driving me bonkers and because I am emetophobic it bothered me more so. It went from metalic to ashy, which i assume is relating to coming off the pill.

Hi, I'm really glad you've posted this. My husband and I are hoping to start trying for a baby in November this year, after years of thinking that I didn't want children I now really really want a baby! I've just turned 29.
Is there anything you're supposed to do to prepare yourself for this? I've heard about taking folic acid etc but I'm not sure when and if you're supposed to start.
The weird thing is that after years of worrying that I am pregnant when my period has been a few days late I'm now really worried that I won't be able to fall pregnant when I'm actually trying (if that makes sense!). I'm really scared that there'll be something that will go wrong, that we won't be able to conceive etc (is that normal or am I just paranoid?)
Good luck Dragonfly, I hope it doesn't take you too long to conceive. How did you feel with your first pregnancy? I'm terrified about morning sickness not to mention the actual birth but for once I feel that the want for a child actually outweighs all the bad things that might come with it!

I never got ms with my daughter!
If you speak to your GP before you get pregnant and ask if they will give you anti emetics immedatly as a just incase, there is also lots of things you do to to prevent, assist with the msickness!
As for preperation, as long as you eat healthily, try and stay away for junk food and increase veg and fruit intake then you shouldnt need a suppliment. Excerise 40 min walk, lay off the caffine a bit, drink more fruit juices or water..
Full fat milk only.
I will not take folic acid again because it really did make me feel rough, however i will increase it in my diet. Its in lots of food especially in Fortified breakfast cerials and baked beans and broccoli (not all on the plate at once)
The nhs to advice you take folic acid up to 3 months before you start to try though.
Remember im here.... I can give you more information on how you know if you ovalate!! Its rather personal so if you dont know and want to then ill pm you!! I didnt know until this month... and because ive been on the pill for years.... i had a shock..
Never noticed with my daughter!! lol!!!
|
sallyb
|
Thanks, that's helpful! I think I might go to the doctor and see what they suggest re anti sickness medication nearer the time. Not sure about the folic acid, I might give it a go in a month or so's time to see how I am on it.
I have been off the pill for about 3 years now, I can't take any form of pill because I have a reaction to one of the hormones in it which causes me to have dark pigmentation marks on my skin. From keeping a diary I can now tell ovulation pains (and I now know what they are rather than panicking that it's the start of a bug or something!). You definitely get to know your body more not being on the pill I think.
I'm really excited when I think about trying for a baby but I have a lot of nagging worries about how our lives will change etc. I guess that's normal though.
|
dragonfly
|
The life change can be quite hard to adjust to, and so can the opening of another way the bugs can get into your life.
But , i look at my daughter. ands she worth
BTW the labour... When your in labour and give birth is different than anything else you'll ever imagine.. because you KNOW it will stop and parental instinct kicks in.. its not that bad! Honest.. i have a lower pain threshold... and im doing it again (hopefull)
The best way to tell when you are ovulating is by what comes out of you, you'll lose sticky egg white kind of stuff for a few days, thats when your eggs released!!

I have 2 daughters and they mean everything to me BUT mention the word I feel sick and it sends me running for miles, my poor little mites have been sat there arms out stretched saying can I have a cuddle mummy (covered in you know what) and I just cannot bear to go near them, I am a good mum in other ways though and as they grow older as long as you made it clear that its mummys daft ways they do understand, my 5 year old will go to her Daddy if she feels ill instinctively as she knows and says Mummy doesnt like sick so I go to daddy. I never had morning sickness with ither of my 2, and tbh the labours were both induced down to me having pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes, they are supposed to be more painful than natural births and theres no getting away from it it does hurt, however I found that giving birth was far less traumatic for me and less painful than being told there is a bug going around your childs class and the anticipation of them getting sick!!!

i have 5 children. and am 15 weeks pregnant with number 6!
i too took stemetil during the first 12 weeks "just in case" but have never had morning sickness.with my first which is my only daughter! i di suffer from very bad heartburn all the way through the entire pregnancy , the doctor prescribed gaviscon.i took it once and made me feel sick so after that i just suffered with the heartburn! i read up on all the pain relief during my first pregnancy, the only thing that said didnt cause nausea was an epidural. i had one with my first 3. the last two i did the whole labour thing with no pain refief.god is was sheer agony. but i amazed the midwifes cos i was in so much pain i couldnt talk but even then cos of being an emet i wouldnt even try gas and air.thats when i hated having this phobia because i would rather have that pain then try pain relief that may-and i say only may cause me to feel sicky!
good luck with trying to get pregnant.

Lori

Unlike Kelly (pregnant with 6) we've got four and we're done (getting old -- see the "how old are you thread" and you'll see I'm Queen of Old here).
I've not v* since 1976 and that includes 4 pregnancies (actually I had an early miscarriage but am not counting that pregnancy -- but wasn't sick during that short time either) and 4 c-sections.
My first pregnancy I felt absolutely terrific. Tired? yes. S? Not at all.
My other three pregnancies I felt a little s* now and then but nothing terrible. The very absolute worst was during a day visiting the in-laws. It was SO hot and SO humid and MIL was making this tuna casserole in the oven and the smell was simply horrid. I went outside to hang out there and the heat was unbearable (the house didn't have air conditioning but had fans). I didn't get s* but felt bad for about four hours. I just took it easy and drank Hawaiian Punch (gross, I know), an American sugary red-colored kiddy drink but that's what the inlaws had in the refrigerator. I survived that day!
So, out of four pregnancies, feeling green for a few hours was as bad as it got for me.
Anyway, I never took antiemetics, during pregnancy or not.
Here are some hints to stay feeling well:
1. Don't get totally hungry. Eat little snacks throughout the day and if you need to, eat some crackers before you get out of bed in the AM.
2. Make sure you eat lots of protein. The baby needs it and you are more likely to feel s* without it. Eggs, meat, cheese, milk products, nuts, and nut butters are all good sources.
3. Experiment with what works for you. Some moms do better with spicy food and some like bland food. Some like savory food and some sweet. There are ways to get all you need considering your cravings and aversions.
4. Don't wear tight waistbands. Give yourself a little room.
5. If cooking smells bug you, get take out, eat cold food, or have dh cook for you while you are not home (reheat it in the microwave).
6. Some moms use those travel wrist bands. I never did but you could try them.
7. Other moms chew on ginger tablets (or drink ginger tea) from the health food store. Always check with your doctor to make sure a tea is safe. Ginger was when I was pregnant but don't know if it is still on the safe list.
8. If your toothpaste suddenly is too strong, try a kids' toothpaste or use simple baking soda.
9. If your prenatal vitamin is making you feel nasty, try taking it with food or at a different time of day. If it is still too much, try a kids' vitamin. My 7 yo takes a gummy vitamin (two a day) and maybe something like that would work for you, take one at breakfast and one at dinner. You want to make sure whatever you take has enough folic acid. A kids' vitamin and a bowl of fortified cereal should do the trick just fine.
10. I remember reading about a pregnant lady who felt crummy and discovered that fresh flowers did the trick for her (smelling them, not eating them!!). Her dh brought home a cheap grocery-store bouquet every night or every other night and if she felt bad, she'd just sniff the bouquet and her n* would disappear.
11. Chew gum if that helps. Or suck on hard peppermint candies.
12. Don't eat huge meals. Don't eat meals heavy on fat. Fat takes longer to leave the tummy and you're more likely to feel ill (pregnant or not) if you load up on fat.
13. Discuss taking extra Vitamin B6 with your doctor. It can help you feel better.
14. And, the sleep aid Unisom (that's what it is in USA) helps with nausea too. Half a Unisom and a B6 is a known pregnancy antiemetic. Google "Unisom" to see what its active ingredient is and what the medicine is called in UK if needed.
Just some ideas.

Hi all
As of Monday we are officially ttc. I'm scared and excited rolled into one, I really want it to happen but at the same time I'm terrified of morning sickness. Though it seems that not many on this board have actually suffered from it!
If I keep getting worried I'll see the doctor but I want to try and get by without taking anything if I can.

It does terrify me, the reason it didnt bother me the first time is because i haddnt eaten in three days so nothing came up!! Roll on 11th december!

Sarah did you go to the drs to ask about anti sickness tablets before you found out you were pregnant?
Because we're trying I have this nagging fear that one day I'll be caught out with terrible morning sickness before I know I'm pregnant. Probably unlikely because I know you don't normally get sickness until about 6-8 weeks and I'm not even pregnant yet. Stupid I know!
I've just been reading a thread on another forum about pregnancy symptoms and so many women say they have experienced sickness it's made me feel really and I'm now thinking can I really cope with this

Congratulations on your pregnancy, 2 girls will be lovely.
I'm due with my 3rd in 10 days, am getting a bit anxious now about the birth. Really trying to keep calm. I'm more scared of v* in labour than the actual pain. I've never been s* with my last 2 but i can't help but worry.
Sally - I never had anti-emets with any of my pregnancies and have never v*. I think the sickness is caused by tiredness more than anything. I found if i ate regulary and got as much rest and sleep as possible i felt fine. Also, the sea sickness bands seemed to really help when i was feeling nauseaus. Good luck. xxx

I registered last night as simba but haven't been able to post yet today because I haven't 'activated' my account.
Anyway I went to the drs this morning and have come back feeling worse The dr was helpful but very matter of fact, there are so many things you can't do, take, eat etc and I know that I did some of those things before I found out I was pg. I took asprin, a big no no apparently, I took vit A as part of my usual multi vitamin and I had a hot bath which apparently is another no no. Now I am terrified I've damaged the baby already
Also I tried to explain my phobia, she wasn't very helpful just told me that it was highly likely that at some point throughout my pregnancy I would either feel or be sick and there was nothing they could do for me until it becomes a problem. She said it might help me get over it
I feel blue this morning, I'm so happy that I'm pregnant but I'm terrified I'm going to do something to harm the baby or that I'm going to be sick. Then I feel selfish for worrying about being sick when really I'm just so happy and grateful that I'm pregnant and can't wait to have my baby.
Is this normal or am I just going insane?
Sorry for the long post

Hi sally.
Its very very normal to worry non-stop about everything you do when your pregnant.
I do and I think every mum does.! Baby and bump are very good for that because hundreds of other mums are going through exactly what you are at the same time as you!
I was given prochlorperazine (stemital) and ive have been assured that it is safe during pregnancy.
Im sure iof you ask outright you'll be given somthing. Nausia through out pregnancy is pretty much guaranteed. Some women dont actually v!"£t. but most do..
Once you get that first 12 weeks out the way the risks of somthing going wrong is minimal! Just take it easy, eat little and often dont get hungry and sleep when you are tired if you can.
Gental excerise is good too x nothing to stressy..
I know for people like us pergnancy is very stresseful and every milestone you reach will bring new worries and questions and fears, but it it an amazing experience. Feeling your baby move is wonderful x ( 18 - 24 weeks)
|
sallyb
|
Thank you I do feel a bit more reassured now. Went to see my mum after work
I have been reading up on morning sickness and how to avoid it and have armed myself with ginger bisuits, water biscuits and bread sticks and have been eating little and often.
I have been reading other posts on BnB and it is helpful to read about everyone elses worries, I'll start posting soon and probably join the September group as dr says baby should be due 25 September.
Thanks again for replying and for your helpful advice

Im too scared to go up a trimester... everyone keeps talking about labour and i find it a bit scarey lol!!!

I would be EXACTLY the same on both counts, although at the moment I feel jealous of people who have made it into the second and third trimester and know that everything is ok (as far as they can anyway!). Can't even contemplate what giving birth will be like at the moment
Do you have to give up the stematil, if it is ok for you to continue could you just do that, at least you're giving yourself the piece of mind then?

Ive got enough to take me up to 41 weeks! I dont have to come off them. But my doc doesnt give them out easily and i wanted some in reserve for if my daughter gets a tummy bug so i can cope better......
Going to have two potiential v!"£t machines to worry about in may! Im hoping that im strong enough to fight this.
On the other hand, i have another phobia, spiders and a few nights ago i had a silly sized one upstairs on the ceiling. It took me 4 hours to get the corouge to kill it, and i then bottled it at the last minute and waited for the cat to get it!
Not a good start to facing phobias lol

I am hungry and want to eat but have gone off a lot of food which means I don't know what to eat. Really scared this is only the start and it'll get much worse and then I'll be sick.
Is it worth going to the doctors do you think? The last one I saw wasn't very helpful

Go back and ask for stemital. (phrochlorperazine)
Safe for pregnancy.
I also found that milk helped my nausia. I wear travel bands too (boots 9.99).
Ask outright for the anti emetics, some docs dont like it. But not one have refused.
Good luck xxxxx Am thinking of you.
|
sallyb

Thank you, I think I will do. I've got my first midwife appointment next week so I'll try and explain more to her, hopefully she'll be more sympathetic.
I got some of those travel bands yesterday so I'll give them a try. Thank you it's such a relief to be able to post on here and know someone understands. The other boards are lovely but most people just seem to accept that ms is a given and get on with it, I wish I could be like that!
On the up side I am trying to think that the symptoms mean there is actually a baby in there. Doesn't stop me worrying that all is ok still though. I've turned into even more of a worry wart than I was before now worrying if I have symptoms, worrying if I don't. Oh dear!

The worrying never ever stops.... at every stage of the pregnancy and then once s/he is here!
Every change, movement you wonder if everythings ok!
I think from the min you get your positive you destined to worry for the rest of your life.

Hi Charlotte
You're not butting in, the more the merrier, it's good to know there are a few of us going through the same worries together
If you read back to the beginning of this post you'll see I felt exactly the same as you when we decided to TTC. I'm now almost 8 weeks pregnant and I'm so happy about it, I have ok up until this week when I'm starting to feel a bit nauseous but as you'll see there are a lot of recommendations for dealing with it like not letting yourself get too hungry etc. I'm currently wearing travel sickness bands which I think help. And most drs will give out anti emetics if you're really insistent about your phobia, I haven't been yet but I will be if it gets any worse let me tell you!!
I have to say though the fear of being sick, symptoms etc is outweighed by wanting to know that the baby is ok and it's not like a bug in that you know you're feeling odd for a reason not because you are technically ill, if that makes sense.
Can't really help with what to say about when children do get bugs because I've not been there yet but I really think we cannot let this phobia ruin or control our lives, if you didn't have kids because of the fear that once in a blue moon one of them will get sick I'm sure you'd live to regret it. I know I would.
Good luck - we are all here to support you through this scary time!

Charlotte.. honestly.. you can get anti emetics when you are pregnant. You can go and see your doctor before you get pregnant and ask if he will prescribe them once you are pregnant.
Nausia doesnt start until 7 weeks so you will have tiem from finding out and getting down the docs to get them.
I have to admit, the worry of my daughter being ill does get to me. But somehow as a mum you deal with it.
Then if they do get ill, just hand wash and bleech as you do now.
HOWEVER, if you really dont want a child... dont force yourself. You have the right to say no.
But if its just our phobia stopping you try try try and still have a baby. Its am amazing experience it really is xx

chaz_n_chipz
|
Thanks guys!!
I already take anti emetics and have quite an understanding doc.
I do really want a baby and over the past few months I have become really broody and its all I am thinking about. I am nearly 22, and kinda do feel young, but I have a house, have been with my partner for nearly 7 years and we are quite financially stable even though we are not married.
Its the pregnancy that scares me because I am not in control of my own body and I am having to care for another human inside me.
I just cant describe how I feel properly about it all, I just know I want a baby!
I have weighed out the pros and cons and the only con is the fact that I have this phobia, among with a few minor things but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
I am excited and scared at the same time.
How are you girls doing?
Did you have to try for long to get pregnant?
How far along are you now and how are you feeling?

Hi all...my hubby and I JUST tried for the FIRST time and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO scared!!! All my life I've wanted to be a mom, but when it actually became a possibility I kept making excuses not to because of my phobia. I also have a TERRIBLE fear of the unknown and being out of control of my body like that is just another terrifying aspect of pregnancy. I know that after one shot there isn't much chance, but I'm still nervous now... Anti-emetics seem to be harder to come by here in the US and they are terribly expensive so I'm scared about that too. But I guess when it comes down to it I'll pay anything to NOT v*!!!

Sorry I haven't been on this thread in a while. Charlotte I know exactly how you feel but as Sarah has said just relax and enjoy trying. It might take longer than you think so just enjoy it.
In answer to your other questions, we conceived within our second month of trying so I guess it would be about 6 weeks. I'm 9.5 weeks now and am feeling very tired, a bit nauseous and have been getting headaches. I didn't go and ask for anti-emetics in the end because I haven't felt it's been bad enough so far (hope it doesn't get worse!!) but they do give them out if you ask, you can also take something for the nausea and I can't remember what it's called now - might be Zofran. I tend to know now what causes mine, when I'm hungry, tired or whatever and I've been wearing travel bands which I do think help a bit.
I can't wait until I get to 12 weeks when apparently you start to feel more human again. For me so far it's been the tiredness that's really hit me hard.
Good luck, really hope you conceive in the right time for you - keep us posted xx
Sarah - not long to go for you now

Hi
How is everyone doing?
Am on my 2WW now and its scaring the poo out of me!!! Me and OH keep trying and trying hoping that something might have happened.
I feel like I am getting my hopes up too much, but I know it doesnt always happen straight away....
Just still terrified about MS and hows its gonna affect me. I know it sounds selfish but that is my only worry about becoming pregnant! I am doing quite well with my emet at the moment which is why it was a perfect time for us to TTC....
But anyway, im rambling now, I am trying to work out those charts on fertility friend and am getting confused, thought I would have a break. hehe
Hope you are all ok!

I'm on Baby and Bump too, I'm Simba in 1st trimester. Although I don't post that much but you'll probably see a few replies from me.
It's amazing how many people there are even on that board that have a similar phobia, we're really not alone!

Erk.. only got just over 8 weeks left..
Im getting nervous now.
I have gone back up to taking two anti emetics a days, one in the morning, one in the evening as i have had to go on iron and they have a side effect of NAUSIA.
I did go out and buy soltan. Which is supposed to be easier on the tummy.
Because I have had an iron deficiency I have been feeling really low, ill and very tired. Hopefully ill start to feel better in a few days of taking the iron.
Sally.. if you need to go on iron, soltan is good because you out it in your orange juice and you can bearly taste it. and it SHOULDNT cause tummy upsets.
They advertise it in the bounty book.

Oh no, why did you need to go on to Iron? I've heard that it's quite normal for pg women but were you feeling unwell? I hope you're ok and feeling better soon, I'll keep that tip in mind if I need to go on them then thanks! Can't believe you've only got 8 weeks, I can't imagine being at that stage yet, have you got everything ready?
I am feeling a bit better these last few days, stopped feeling so sick now thank goodness although I still get queasy now and again. Still pretty tired but nowhere near as bad. Is it normal to feel better at 11 weeks? True to form I'm now worrying because I am feeling better that there is something wrong. What a nutcase!
Scan in 2.5 days - can't wait but I'm nervous at the same time!

Its very common for women to run low of iron. Iron carries the oxygen around the blood. and yes, i was feeling unwell, tired and week.
Soltan does seem to be side effect free!!! so far anyways! I feel so much better taking the iron.
You may find that you'll still a few days where you do feel queasy still up until around 16 weeks... but its normal to start to feel better as you get towards the end of the first trimester.
That first scan is magic.. i bet your very excited. Remember to drink enough water so that baby lifts up and can be seen by the sonographer.
Id start an hour before you go and try and sip water right up until your appointment. Little bit at a time rather than drinking all that water at once!
My 12 week scan seems like bloody ages ago lol!! Like a different lifetime.

Glad you're feeling better and that you've managed to find something that won't make you feel bad
I am really excited but also can't shake the feeling that all might not be well, it's hard to imagine what's going on inside you without you really knowing if that makes sense. Part of me is still thinking I've imagined it all!
A question about the anti natal bloods - I phoned the surgery who just told me that they had all come back as normal and no further action was required. Obviously I'm happy and relieved about that but I've heard of others (on other forums) who have been sent reports on what their HcG levels were. Do they test your hormone levels with the booking in bloods, I thought it was just for all the possible things you need to be immune to?
Thanks for listening to all my questions
Charlotte - how are you? Any news yet???
|
dragonfly
|
I know that they check for all kinds of things on your first bloods. Including blood group, iron levels and if you have an the rubella etc.
You will get a sheet that tells you the results but im not sure why they check the hcg in your blood. They will be in your green notes after you've seen midwife.
Only one more day until your scan..
Yes Charlotte, how r u getting on?

Hi
Im alright, thanks for asking!
Just waiting patiently now... my period is due on Sunday so I think I will wait and see if it arrives or not and then take a test. Just trying to not concentrate too much, as in trying not to become too obsessive about it all, because I think itll stress me out too much. if ya know what I mean?
sallyb - Let us know how your scan goes?? I bet your getting really excited
dragonfly - I joined baby and bump website, and it seems really good! Im yet to make a post but have been getting into reading all sorts of interesting things. Cheers for that recommendation. Your getting close to your due date now? Eek, is it your first baby?
Ill be sure to let you all know how I get on!!!!

Well I had my scan yesterday afternoon and there is a baby in there YAY!! Was really amazing to see it, I was surprised how much it actually looks like a baby at this stage and how much moving around it was doing inside me and I couldn't even feel it. So happy that everything is as it should be so far, have been booked in for my 20 week scan on 15 May which seems AGES away so I have that to worry about next ha ha!
Sarah how are you getting on with avoiding the bugs? Lucky you still have those stematil! I'm sure you will both be fine anyway x

Thank you wow that is scary that you have less than 8 weeks now! Exciting though.
I think I spoke too soon about feeling better, I've felt exhausted again this week and have had a headache for about 3 days now boo hoo! Still I know it will come and go.
Saw a pic of your bump on Facebook, it's very tidy I hope I'm like that

Hi Charlotte is this your 2nd 2WW? Hopefully this month will be your month. How are you feeling about it all now?
I'm doing ok although I had to have two days off work last week with my headaches which were getting quite bad. Went to get my blood pressure checked because it had been slightly high but luckily everything was ok. I feel better for having the two days off I have to say. I went to look for some maternity clothes with my mum on Sat but the problem is at the moment I'm too big for my normal clothes but too small for maternity wear so I'm getting by with wearing baggy tops and having my trouser buttons undone ha ha.
Keep us updated with how you do this month and try not to get too worried about it all :0)

Yup, this is my 2nd 2WW!!
I am feeling alot more positive about everything now, but still scared to death about getting MS!! Even though I know that not everyone gets it....
I am definitely very very broody atm and am really looking forward to being pregnant in most senses.
Anyway, I bet you are getting very excited? How are you feeling? Have you had alot of n* or any MS?
How far along are you now?

Glad you're feeling more positive now I am feeling excited, nervous and exhausted all rolled into one!
I'm coming up to 15 weeks on Friday so into second trimester now wahoo! I had about 4-5 weeks of nausea at around weeks 6-11 it is a weird sort of feeling though, like you are hungry but still feeling sicky, at around those weeks I started going off certain foods (sweet stuff for me which is very unlike me) and I went through a phase of only wanting to eat jacket potatoes ha ha.
From what I've read it seems that although it's common for most pregnant women to suffer some nausea at some point during pregnancy it's rare for people to actually be sick. Obviously some are but I think if you're not generally a sicky person you're most likely to just feel a bit queasy rather than actually being s*. (She says desperately hoping that the nausea will stay away and she will not be sick at all during the rest of the pregnancy!! Ha ha)

Well, your over the scariest bit.. enjoy the second trimester!
i have 5 weeks left now. I did my birth plan today which was scarey. I have opted for a home birth. So just gas and air for me! Be nice to be in my own environment when i give birth. Also. I want danni to stay int he house rather than palm her off elsewhere... Im hoping she'll sleep trhough it all.
one month and two days... im so excited and scared.
Theres lots of if ans but asscoiated with a homebirth so I am hoping every thing rus smoothly.
Remember, if you run low on iron... you dont have to take the nasty nhs stuff.. you can buy spartone which is pretty tastless. is diluted in orange juice and no side effects!
I am very worried about sickness in labour. My midwife has suggested that now i should only eat little and often. So i dont get full. Also..
I have an appoinment with my gp to ask for an anti emetic injection for the midwife to administer during labour to prevent sickness during transistion (not that every women is sick during transition). I wasnt last time but i am frightended of it.
also... the other time it can be an issue with is with the injection that they give you to expel the placenta. i am still opting to have this because then its over so quickly... Otherwise it can take up to an hour to wait for the removal of the placenta... ewe...
Fingers crossed for me guys.... that my GP says yes to anti emetic injection.
Sally... yay.. excited. 2nd trimester is the best one.. in afew weeks you'll feel movement which is wonderful. Let me know when you feel baby kick!

Wow it's really getting close for you how exciting. I'm sure a home birth will be much more calming for you, it does sound nice to be in your own environment and have your own bathroom etc available. Are you close to your local hospital should they need to take you in?
Sorry to sound ignorant but what is the transition? Is there something about that that makes people sick? It sounds as though your midwife and dr are very understanding, it's great that they are willing to talk to you about your phobia and offer advice. I really hope it all goes well for you and that you don't have to wait too long for her to arrive, I can imagine being late must be very frustrating!
I have been thinking and getting nervous about the birth a lot lately even though it's really ages away. I just can't imagine how it all happens and what it must feel like. And of course I'm worried about the usual s*.
By the way how do you know when you need iron tablets? I've been feeling pretty exhausted and headachy still and I don't know if it's just the stage I'm at or whether I'm actually a bit anaemic or something. My midwives are rubbish I can never get hold of them so always end up ringing the drs which is annoying!
Take care and let us know how you're getting on :0)

Tired and generally blah normally says low iron... They left me feeling like that for 5 weeks before they eventually told me i needed iron.
Transition is when the head crowns.. the most painful part...
contractions are strongest... also women can get a sence on "dispair"
My hospital is 15 mins away! not too bad.
is somthing goes wrong then they'll take me in by ambulance.
if your feeling off, ask or a blood test and they'll check your inron levels.. dont ignore it! you can see your gp.
What did your first lot of bloods say?
Im in the last box on my ticker.. now it seems real.
|

I've got my next midwife appointment on Thursday so I will definitely speak to her about how I've been feeling then - although over the last few days I've felt a lot better so I hope it stays that way! My bloods were fine as far as I know at the first tests.
Ouch that sounds painful!
I still haven't sorted a ticker, I need to do that. I think I'm getting a bit of a bump now, my tummy's starting to feel definitely stretched and people are starting to comment.
Hope you're doing ok today - another week closer

LOL not too much longer to wait, I'm sure I will be just like you when I get that far!
It's so exciting but must be weird getting all the stuff ready for a baby that's still inside you - if that makes sense!
How are you feeling about the birth now? What kinds of pain relief will you opt for? I haven't really looked into all that yet but I know I don't want anything that will make me feel sick!! Or is the pain so bad that you'll take anything just to make it go away.
Can you tell I'm getting nervous already ha ha!
