Potty training tipsHiya, now Dellas 2 Ive decided to have another pop @ potty training. Ive got to admit ive been dreading this part of motherhood the most! Ive had to house train 2 cats & 2 dogs so Im dreading the 5th round lol Any tips??? I noticed the other day at dellas birthday tea party people where looking at me a little quizzative as much as to say 'she STILL in nappies?' Have I left it late to start because we did try a couple of times in the past & she just wasnt taking to it @ all, she was getting thoroughly upset about the whole issue to be honest so I dropped it & vowed to try again at a later date when she felt more up for it, this the wrong attitude?

First of all ignore what other people are doing and thinking and do not even try to start potty training until you are sure your child is ready. Remember each child is different so the key is don't rush it. I think my son was 2 and a half (I did delay it a bit as we were going on holiday) but I knew he was ready and had it all done and dusted in less than a week. If you do it too early it will just cause unnecessary stress for both you and your child. You can usually tell if they are ready as they know that they have a wet or dirty nappy.
When you are sure she is ready choose a week when you can be at home most of the time.
Buy her some pretty knickers and tell her she is a big girl now.
Sit her on the potty and tell her what its for, ask her if she can do a wee in it.
You will have a few accidents to start with, don't worry, you will find she will go on and sit on it, do a wee or whatever and be so proud of herself when she does it all by herself for the first time. Give her lots of praise.
When she can manage to it at home, try taking her out, (get her to do a wee before she goes), while you are out go to some toilets and sit her on there and ask her to do a wee.
For nightime I used trainer pants, but when I checked in the morning found they were dry, so took them off and bought a protective bed thing from boots which was not sheet size but just big enough to fit under them and wash easily without stripping the whole bed if need be, but found it was never wet.
I did it this way for both my children and had them both dry (day and night) in a week.
Choose the right time and you will be fine with it.

Danni has going through the same thing righ now. We are using pull up pants because if she wears knickers it seems to make her wee...
We just got her to sit on the potty until she she weed, she played sitting on it.. then she just got the idea!!!
She'll do it.. dont worry!!!

you are DEF not too late
my youngest is five and STILL wet at night!!!
during the day he is fine and has been since about the age of three
but at night he just can't hold it in........and he's a deep sleeper so he doesn't even wake up when he wets
i've even tried getting up in the middle of the night and lifting him...without much joy
so you have PLENTY time to get the wee one trained
lots of perseverence and treats when she uses the potty

My two were so different at this Ellie took forever and even at 5 she had accidents and would wee next to the toilet not on it she wasn't dry at night until she was 5 and even then she wet sometimes. Georgia however went straight on the toilet ignoring the potty and used it no problem although very often (she seems fascinated by public toilets!) She was dry at night at 3 and not one night wet. I have friends whose 7 year olds still wet at night so don't worry about other people each child is different.

Hiya All. Thanks so much for your advice, ill bare it all in mind, we went out & brought her some new pants with fifi on and a new potty (pooh bear, it flushes & looks like a little throne) and some kandoo wipes (plus lots of cleaning items for the inevitable accidents) and shes had 2 accidents today, she tells me when shes wet on the floor & sits on the potty after, I made a big fuss about a few drips she managed to get in there, I swear she thinks im a crack pot lol Im trying to stay relaxed about it all because If I stress she'll pick up on it. We used pull ups when we nipped out & shes wore a skirt & tights. Ive just spotted some personalised braney rewards charts on ebay so Im going to get her 1. It would be smashing if we could get her in pants for christmas  Thanks again.
