I'm so sorry to hear that!  It really, deeply scares me when I hear of young kids getting sick like that.  I always think of my nephews and how I love them so much even though they aren't my own children...I would be devastated if anything happened to them.  It just doesn't seem fair for a child to have that...they haven't had time to abuse their bodies in ways that might lead to those things.  She's certainly in my thoughts and prayers...as are all you emet moms!!!

Like everyone else who has posted a message she will be in my prayers, god i cant imagine how any mum copes with that kind of news, but if this can be of any reasurance in one small way let me just tell you that i see children like that often as i am a volenteer on a childrens ward in a local hospital, and they NEVER cease to amaze me with all that they go thru with treatment and sometimes side effects, they can feel so ill some days thru treatment which i must stress OFTEN works really well, and then the next day they will say to me"hey chrissy come and play on this with me or lets do this etc etc"....They seem to cope much better than the adults do,i think its because they dont have the "worry thing"we grown ups get that then leads to our stress, lets all send you and your friend all our love, chrissy.x

Chrissie

Jaz has a tumor on her left kidney... she starts chemo tuesday.

What can be expected?  What will Jaz feel like. I dont think shes "ill" now....
chrissy

hi dragonfly, everyone responds different to treatment, you just have to take it a day at a time. A friend of mine he is 53 and has lung cancer,at the mo he is having chemo, the only side effects he gets is really bad tiredness for a few days till his next treatment,he has never been sick or even felt it.So like i say, take a day at a time,i am certain you will find the strength to be there for your friend and her little girl, and i am always here for you if you need any kind of support,as i am certain most of us on the forum will be,keep us posted, and look after yourself as well, love n hugs, chrissy.x

She had an op yesterday, her mum text me to say she was wozy but out of theatre. I only assume this is a biopsy to see if its benign or not. Her mum sends a text to report whats happened, but the rest of our conversation is EVERYTHING but.. i think maybe she doesnt want to talk about it.
Must be so hard for her. Her world must have shattered over night

We talked about sweets, high school musical etc..... she even asked how my danni was.
Just not jazmine.
Julie

I bet she's glad to have you to help take her mind off things.  You're being a great friend by chatting with her about whatever she wants to talk about!  I would imagine that sometimes she just needs a little "break" from it.  I agree with Chrissy, kids seem to be so much more resiliant than adults!  It's probably because they don't have many negative life experiences yet to crush their fragile little spirits.  God bless her.

Jazmines been very ill on the chemo.. they started it yesterday because the tumour grew rapidly overnight

Its a Wilms Tumour.. so outlook is good.

I saw her mum and sister today, obviously being emetophobia i will wait for jaz to come home before seeing her.

If she only just got ill then maybe they have caught it early. If so her chances of beating this are huge. Also, she is young and normally healthy, and with support i'm sure she will fight this bravely.

A PONTYPOOL mum is shaving her head to raise money after her young daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Beth Fairburn, 26, is having the close shave after her six-year-old daughter Jazmine was diagnosed with a Wilms' tumour on her left kidney last month.

The condition only affects around 70 people in the UK each year, mostly children under five.

Jazmine has undergone chemotherapy over the past four weeks and the next stage is the removal of her kidney in an operation next Wednesday at the University of Wales hospital, Cardiff.

She will have to undergo further chemotherapy following the surgery.

When Miss Fairburn, 26, of Mount Pleasant Court, found out about Jazmine's condition, she said it "was very upsetting and very frightening,"

advertisementShe added: "Once we got to the hospital, the consultant put my mind at rest and said the outlook is very good."

Miss Fairburn and her sister Katie will be getting their close shave at her home tomorrow afternoon, and are trying to raise as much money as possible for the Sky ward, where Jazmine has been staying, and the pair have raised around £1,000 so far.

Jazmine, who is a pupil at George Street school, was back at school this week in the run up to her operation and her school is also holding a sponsored aerobics session to raise more money for the ward.

Miss Fairburn said Jazmine was "doing really well" at the moment.

Jazmine was against the head shave idea at first, but Miss Fairburn said now she wants to join in with her mum and auntie tomorrow, adding that she has no nerves about the haircut: "It doesn't bother me, it will grow back, it's only hair."

This is a local newpaper story on them
