we have not been effected to much, obviously food shopping costs more than it did, but we just cut back on luxuries.
Good news about petrol - at its peak we were spendind 1.24 a litre, but now its down to 92p
we don't have a mortgage, but ,pay rent
dh has been working all hours for extra cash, so we dont see him much at the moment.
things will get better for you, good news on your oh job - maybe it will lead to fulltime? fingers crossed

What's the credit crunch you are referring to? I know what's going on with our economy in the US, what's happening over there???

I think something pretty similar to in the US!
The price of everything is sky high, including, gas electric, food, fuel (even though it has recently dropped about 30pence in price per liter which I think is about 50cents??)
Lots of houses are being repossessed and house prices are all over the place, which is rubbish because me and my oh are saving up to buy a place (we are renting at the moment) and its just so difficult!
An example is that I eat gluten, wheat and dairy free food through my own choice and a loaf of gluten free bread on average costs about £2 ($3)!!
Grrrrr.... it annoys me soooooo much!!!!
Is it similar in the US Julie?

Yes, that sounds similar to things here. The stock market is plummeting and the cost of everything is increasing. Homes are being foreclosed on and home prices are in the toilet. On top of that unemployment is rising

Unemployment big in the UK too!
As my OH has had to put up with it for the past 6 months!!!

well the credit crunch has proved a nightmare when it comes to selling my house.
which, as you guys know, is a necessity cos i split with my OH way back in may yet we're STILL living under the same roof.
our house went on in the market in june, and we've had no more than five viewers through the door.
it was on at offers over £210,000....then we fixed the price at £230,000.
the other day we got a verbal offer of £200,000 - which is not only 30 grand less than we wanted, but is also less than we PAID for it!!!
we asked the couple to come up and meet us somewhere around the middle...so they offered £207,000 which is still not really enough.
i'm NOT being greedy but i've had a new mortgage calculated on the basis of us selling for £230,000 - and it's already going to cost me a massive £700 a MONTH out my single wage.
scott and i have agreed that if that interested party will give us £212,000, we'll take it.
but that's an £18,000 hit which means i'm out of pocket and won't be able to put down the deposit i'd calculated into my new mortgage.
which means i might lose the flalt i'm meant to be buying.
all very depressing.

I've actually ended up having to move back in with my Mum from my flat. I'm lucky I can because I know in a few more years I wouldn't be able too. (I'm 18 now, I'd be pushing it to move back in a bit older).
I'm off work sick but it's depressing watching how few jobs there are about. Like I'm looking for a small, part time job and not so long ago there were quite a few about but now I'm well enough to start thinking about part time, there's nothing!

The government here is trying to do something about it before it gets bad, but shares are still going down and people aren't spending as much. House prices are crazy and houses aren't selling like they were. To encourage spending, all those who get family benefit have been given a one off extra payment of $1000 per child. Very welcome and handy at this time of year I can tell you. (Thank you Mr Rudd, looking forward to receiving mine next week).
Petrol here is $1.04 a litre and dropping daily. That's about 43p

Our brilliant government tried to head off the economic problems in the spring by sending out a $600 stimulus check to each taxpayer (so my husband and I got $1200 total and then you got a little extra for each kid you have). Unfortunately, I think by that point people were already scared so that money largely went into savings. Now all we can do is hold tight and see what happens.

Our house has been up for a year now it had been first up at 595,000 but we've had to drop it to 495,000 so parents will lose 100grand were really struggling at the moment, my parents don't want to move and are happy to stay here they said however much it is they will always find a way to pay it just means giving up on other stuff.
